This painting of this lovely tower of macarons was a pre-study for the larger painting Montmartre Macarons. I was experimenting with a different resist material to create layers of negative space between the macarons. I found I could paint and layer transparent pigment without losing luminosity in the process.
I was so happy with this painting that I went on to create the larger work with some variations in composition while trying a few other things.
This painting brings back wonderful memories of being in the beautiful patisserie in Paris. I hope to return in 2023 as a destination workshop. Yum!
